چکیده

Currently, there is no use for melon plant biomass in agriculture and animal feeding. Using this as silage provides a more sustainable production system. Thus, the objective of study was to evaluate produced with different mixtures ground corn. The experimental design completely randomized factorial scheme (5 × 2) five replications. treatments consisted between (branch + leaf) fruit (melon scrapings) amounts 0% fruit, 5% 10% 20% 100% on an as-fed basis corn AF ensiled biomass. greatest dry matter contents were found silages 0 which 225.6 g/kg 235.2 g/kg, respectively. highest concentrations acetic acid without 10.96 10.00 DM, 0%, 5%, most suitable making, adding improves quality parameters.

Silage Fermentation End Products and Microbial Populations: Their Relationships to Silage Quality and Animal Productivity

Understanding the roles that various microbes play in silage fermentation and the factors that affect their growth can help us understand why silages ferment in various ways. In many, but not all cases, the fermentation that a crop undergoes can be explained by how microbes interact with factors such as moisture content, buffering capacity, and sugar content. However, management factors such as...

Case Study: Fermentation of frozen whole-plant corn silage and high-moisture corn after thawing

The study objectives were to evaluate (1) the effect of thawing unfermented whole-plant corn (WPC; Exp. 1) on fermentation capacity after several months of frozen storage, and (2) the effect of temperature on fermentation profile of thawed high-moisture corn (HMC; Exp. 2) stored frozen for a longer period and then fermented at 2 ambient temperatures. Unfermented WPC and HMC samples were obtaine...

Effect of Essential Oils of Various Plants as Microbial Modifier to Alter Corn Silage Fermentation and in vitro Methane Production

The aim of present study was to assess the effects of individual various essential plant oils on chemical composition, aerobic stability and fermentation characteristics of corn silage and in vitro rumen fermentation and methane emission using gas production technique. Whole crop corn was harvested and ensiled in laboratory scale tubes (4±0.25 kg) for 45 days. Treatments consisted of either cor...

Net energy of ensiled wet corn gluten feed in corn silage diets for finishing steers.

Two trials were conducted to determine the NE value of ensiled wet corn gluten feed (WCGF) in corn silage finishing diets for beef cattle. In Trial 1, 96 Angus-crossbred yearling steers were fed corn silage-based diets containing 0, 20, 40, or 60% ensiled WCGF. Increased dietary WCGF resulted in improved DMI (linear, P less than .05), ADG (linear; P less than .05), and feed/gain (linear, P less...

Bacterial Inoculant Effects on Corn Silage Fermentation and Nutrient Composition

The survival and effect of three new probiotic inoculants (Lactobacillus plantarum CCM 4000, L. fermentum LF2, and Enterococcus faecium CCM 4231) on the nutritive value and fermentation parameters of corn silage was studied under laboratory conditions. Whole corn plants (288.3 g/kg DM) were cut and ensiled at 21°C for 105 days. The inoculants were applied at a concentration of 1.0×10 cfu/ml. Un...
